First place 2 minutes ahead of Michel Labrie in the 15km freestyle race in beautiful Mauricie National Park.
Today March 22nd and 2nd day of spring was very winter like. Still 2 meters of snow on the ground, with new snow recently added plus bitterly cold north-westerly winds. Temperatures hovered around -8 during the race not including windchill. The parkway was excellently groomed with a hard packed surface and wide enough to glide and stretch the skating technique to the maximum. Which is exactly what I did and was glade to pass Michel after the first uphill. My Fischer RCS skis were very fast and I was flying on the downhills. Everything went well. My skis, my strength and my positive attitude. I wished there were more skiers doing this race. Just the scenery and challenging course is worth the trip.
